Duane Allen is a modern jazz guitarist and composer based in Southern California. His music is a combination of different eras in the history of jazz, and is intertwined with the current jazz styles of today. He cites several influences throughout the history of jazz, including: Wes Montgomery, Jim Hall, Grant Green, John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock, Pat Metheny, John
Scofield, Bill Frisell, Kurt Rosenwinkle, and countless others. Duane Allen is also influenced by many other styles of music, such as: classical, blues, rock, funk, folk, experimental, etc. What comes out is a combination of all of these things which gives Allen his individual voice. When performing live, he can be heard playing jazz standards, originals, pop adaptations, experimental music, and other styles as well.
